It's official, again. I am now training for a Sprint Triathlon. I've been wanting to do one for the last few years, and I am finally making the commitment. Part of the reason for this blog post is to keep me accountable. I started training last year, and never did finish. So, this year my goal is to complete the training and FINISH the race.
I will be competing in the TriSumter Triathlon on October 22nd. http://www.sumtersc.gov/visitingus/TriSumter.aspx . I will be training 7 days a week for 12 weeks. Along with my swimming, running, and biking; I will be weight training 3 days a week.
My motivation for training and competing is two fold. My number 1 goal is to get in the best shape of my life. Earlier this year I lost 50 lbs and just fell short of losing my goal. My plan is to get down to my goal weight by race day. Secondly, the competitor in me wants to push myself to do something that many won't try. And after training this morning in the water, I've got a long way to go.
Thanks for your thoughts, encouragement, and prayers during the next 12 weeks. Stay tuned for some training updates.
Way to go brother for doing your part to keep the Stotan name and ideal alive--I've been a Stotan since 1988--visit my blog which is heavily Stotan--be sure to look over all the old posts under the Archive section.
